Hello everybody. I know this topic has been raised million of times already, and i have searched the site for the answers. However, there seem to be no exact solution to the problem. My car just clicks and won't start. It also starts better when its hot. I like have no money to take it somewhere for diagnostics. Is there anything i can do to determine the problem? Are there tests to perform to see whats going on? it is certainly ignition circuit problem and alot of people have it.
I already checked the ignition switch. - not it
As BigAaron suggested , checked the black/orange wire at the ECU i have like 10 volts there. Can it be it? Should it be 12 strong?

I'll leave the Starter for last as i won't be able to work on it myself.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

does the engine turn over while you attempt to start the car? yes? / no, starter motor bad, or seized engine.

does the tach bounce while you are cranking on the engine? yes? /no, possible cps/distrubter wiring problem, blown fuse, broken timing belt, bad ecu, bad power/ground.

if the tach bounces and still no start, check for fuel, some propane or starter fluid should start your car if your fuel pump isn't work or there's a problem with your fuel system.

if the car still doesn't start or even sputter i would check the plugs/gap, and check the compression

if you need more help then this search google or this forum for " tsrm" toyota service repair manual. it has all the awnsers.

your starter is probably bad. also make sure your battery is fully charged. also go over the grounds: the one from battery 12v- to the block, tranny to frame and head to frame.
the starter is probably full of crap and needs to be cleaned out or you have a bad ground.
give the starter a hit with a hammer, sometimes that will temporarily fix it.

Well the motor doesn't turn. the problem comes and goes. sometimes starts some doesn't. But when it starts it doesn't even spin the engine it just catches instantly.

sounds like its your starter if it clicks and then starts sometimes. i would take your starter off first and get it tested.

starter \end thread/

just replace it, shouldn't take you much more then a few hours with two 14mm wrenches.

it's on the driver side under the intake manifold, and will need to be dropped out the bottom.
