How do I check the Deck Height on a 7M-GE?

I tried searching with no luck.

I have an 87 7MGE and i got it with no head on it.
I was told it was shaved and I have no record or document to prove so.
I have aquired a rebuilt N/A cylinder head and I would like to know how to find the deck height so I can get the correct HG for it.

any help would be appreciated.

Install the crank and get out your ruler.

I use a BIG Digi Vernier then measure from the Crank saddle to the deck, stock from memory is 198.5mm.

Engine is fully assembled on the lower end.

I was told it was shaved down before i bought the car and it came with no cylinder head.
I just aquired a rebuilt head and i want to get the correct HG.

You could measure how far out of the hole the piston sticks at TDC (stock is 20 thou so if you get 30 thou the deck has had a 10 thou cut)
