ok, my car is in the shop, and i dont have pictures but there is a hose about 8 inches long coming off of the power steering pump and leading no where, when i bought the vehicle it wasnt pluged into anything and i dunno what its purpose is, it just looks like normal vacuum line, and was wondering if possible if anyone could tell me if thats normal or it needs to plug into something, i will try and get a picture if i can.....

There should be two lines coming off the PS pump. One goes to the bottom of the accordian hose. One goes to the hardline that runs over the front of the engine, between the upper and lower timing belt covers.

This is an idle up function activated by the power steering. So, if you turn your steering to lock in a parking lot, the power steering pump opens the valve and lets more air over into the intake manifold, increasing your idle so that the extra drain from the steering doesn't stall the car.

That said, many people have removed this, capped it at the accordian hose and the intake manifold, and they are just a little more careful in parking lots when they are turning hard.

I was going to start a new thread about this Hard pipe vacuum line but searched and found this :icon_bigg I am in the process of installing my FFI and eliminating some unnecessary vacuum line along the way. If I understand correctly Grimjack I can basically eliminate that whole metal vacuum pipe, Cap the feeding line by the Intake, and all I will lose is the extra RPM I would get if I lock my wheels in a parking lot. That line has nothing to do with PPS which I understand to be harder steering effort based on speed, correct?

Thanks
