I am supprised to see that people are spooling so late with the hx35 on a 1jz. I have a friend that is running a HY35 on a 2jz, and seeing full boost (12psi for now) before 3k.

Hy35 spools faster. And its basically a gt35 with a billet wheel iirc. So on the 2.5 it will take a tad bit longer.

29psi from a 6 blade hx40 with the 18cm turbine housing on my 1jz by 5000rpm. Spool starts around 3000. Made enough power to have a stock rod fail 1" below the wrist pin. (600-700 at the motor?)

This is exactly the turbo I'm looking for. Do you happen to have the holset part number? It is a T4 turbine housing, right?

The turbine housing was divided t3. I believe they also came with an undivided t4 19cm housing as well. I'm about to try the bep .70a/r on my new 3L bottom end. Should spool quickly

It starts to spool hard on mine (HX35W 8 blade on 1JZ) at ~3500rpm. My tach is off by a little though. I hit the rev limiter when the tach says 7K, and my digital tach says 7050... but rev limiter should be at 7250 IIRC... so... I have to look into that.

I'm going to keep an eye out for someone looking to trade up from an HY35 and see if I can put something smaller on. I only want 400hp, any more is useless for what I use the car for, and I want the faster spool.

Hi guys, I know this thread is old but I was reading through it and I figured i would post here instead of starting a new one. Right now my 1j is bone stock with 3" turbo back exhaust, fmic, and my fuel pump is a walbro 255lph. I was going to buy a driftmotion single turbo kit but it seems like kind of a waste of money. After reading through some of this thread I figured an hy35 setup would be much cheaper and better. So my planned setup would be hy35, 40mm external gate, 440cc, safcII. You think it will be possible to achieve 400whp with 18psi on a hy35? With spool around 3000 to 3500. And also I just had a couple questions. The hy35 is a t3 flange correct? Does it have a v-band exhaust or is it flanged? And what do you do for oil lines? Can the holset use -an lines. And would you need any sort of restrictor in the oil feed line? And lastly, does the hy35 need coolant lines as well?
I apologize for all the questions but if you guys can help me out it would greatly help me put together my single setup on my budget.

Holset experts any idea if that exhaust housing is appropriate for a 1jz? I talked to the guy and am going there with cash ready to buy it just wanna make sure its not some giant exhaust housing. its external gated which is perfect for me!

Hi, I planned on using a H351 on my 1j before it was stolen and totaled. So i cant tell you how it is on my car, but my buddy is running one on his 7m and making over 440 to the wheels at around 19 psi. It is a beast! For the cost, you cant find anything near the quality. I work for Diesel Power Products now and we sell these all the time to people with other project cars. Good luck.

What do you guys think I should do. Got the brand new hx35. Knife edged exhaust housing externally wastegated. Should I swap the housing for a bep .70ar with the 3 inch v band? Or run the stock housing. I really want to hit as close to 500 as possible on 93+ meth. You think the bep housing would get close to 500?

According to in practical setups 1JZ-GTE, Hx40 had a faster spool and had weaker top end. But in Q/M faster spool is what is more important and I had seen a HX40 running and competing a precision 6765 setup 1JZ-GTE and giving a tough time to it. Yet still I'd go for experts opinion. Because if its the right turbo to put to compete against 6262 or 6765, then why spending 2000 dollars ?

im getting ready to bolt a HX35 on my 1j, ill let you all know how it acts.. Before i done my swap i was running it on a 4 cylinder engine. I had 10 psi at 2700 rpm, and was full boost at like 3100 rpm. i loved it on that engine, id say ill like it equally on the 1j. My holset was on the stock housing as well, no BEP exhaust side, ran it just like they come off of a cummins.
