HKS 550cc INJECTORS - crispillustrated...

...well... pretty MILD, maybe... but took me a dozen years to finally get 'em!

(Actually, they are labeled as MATSUDA (Mazda) injectors on the box in Japanese... whereas the "original" HKS injectors were "exclusive" product, I think.)

An EVENING job... at first.

^ Stuff comes off...


...then... READY for the "procedure"!

^ ...and a WISE impulse to RE-TORQUE!!! (Several REARWARD joints had "relaxed" and lost tension...)

There was an apparent miscommunication when I explicitly asked if I needed "clips" to transition from my 440cc stockies to these!!!:icon_conf

^^^^^^^ .....needless to say, THAT idea went up in.... er.... "smoke"?

It became clear I would need the patience, stable hands, and advanced skill-set of a Belgian Grain-of-Rice Masterpiece Carver to make these two very different connectors "mate"...

^^^ A quick trip to Radio Shack... and a handful of "blade-type" connectors... and an "innovative" slip of "cardstock" to "positively" separate the two connectors (VERY close together... and EASILY an IMMINENT short circuit!).

^^^ Installed and then "injected" (pun INTENDED...:nono: ) and "coated" with RED RTV silicone.

Red silicone = FTW. I've used it I don't know how many times instead of waiting 3 days for a y-pipe gasket (I'm NA) Sucks about the clips, though. Good recovery!

...yeah... it was on a weekend... I had NO TIME in my life... and my PATIENCE at the moment was down to less than nothing...:nono:

Yeah, thank you! I agree... the goal is a "wolf in sheeps clothing" thing... so anything "non-stock" under the hood is in keeping with the Jekyll/Hyde thing... and the very "subtle" stockish look on the exterior is a really nice "cloak"!



I don't need ANY attention when I'm just "lurking"... er... I mean CRUISING around.

no offense, but i wouldnt have done that to them. something that important i would want the right clips on them. we have them in stock for $30 and could have had them to you the next day. good luck to you tho, hope it works out.

You are totally right!:biglaugh: We'll see how my haste ultimately affects the "long-term" performance of my car!

On the "shot"... the jets I have are for 50, 70, 100 shots, but I don't run it at all.


... I'm an "all-turbo" guy for now.


(On another note... it is set up with a remote solenoid and two heated 10lb bottles through a fogger nozzle off a WOT throttle switch. Pretty basic.)

(I used that on the "semi-stripped" rear threads in the head on the exhaust manifold rearmost fitment. So far it's not bleeding off any of my 15psi, and seems to be taking higher thresholds if selected.:icon_bigg )
