I bought a Hirschmann Antenna off eBay and the Supra Specific directions that it comes with told me to re-use alot of the old parts.

I suppose they were assuming that I bought my supra with some sort of antenna... well I didn't.

tubbie was kind enough to send me the parts that it told me that I needed and they should be arriving tomorrow.

It is mostly he clamping parts and the rubber from the stock antenna that it told me to re-use. Are these parts really necessary? Or can I get away with going about it another way?

Just wondering if anyone has used this antenna and if it's any good...

Thanks...

I pitched my electric antenna and bought a black ford type 31" (FM is a 31 Inch Wavelength) and used a little Dow Corning 732 RTV Black Silicone Sealer to seal mine.

A couple of guys on the Geman Supra forum are using the Hirschmann antenna (probably the same model as you have?) and seem to be pretty satisfied with it.

run a piece of antenna wire around the hatch window and call it a day.

FYI: I just installed it and the directions that it came with were great... except the "cylinder insert" didn't fit into the "old base" and that just created all sorts of problems... It comes with the 35 degree and 30 degree bases... which are justa little too big and a little too small...

What I really need to find is a 32 degree base for that antenna and it should work like a charm.

Right now I've got the 30 degree base on there and it's pointed straight up... except pointing towards the front of the car... it is the only way with that base that it would work while still sealing out the water...

Oh well, I'll fix it someday...

The reception on this thing is AMAZING!!!!!!!

I pick up crazy Mexican channels that nobody knew about!

Grant it that most of the channels I have down here are all crazy Mexican channels.
