If you swap in a 5 speed tranny into an auto car that isn't used to the higher RPM's, does the engine mind?
Why does an auto shift at lower RPM'd?
How high can I take my auto if I shift it manually?

Well you probably dont want to shift at 6,000+ rpms since you arent making any power at those rpms. Unless your modded.

You make most of the power at around 5,500 Rpms stock.

No. Why would it?

If you floor with with PWR on, it should go all the way to 6000-ish.

As high as you want.

Because auto redline at 500 RPM lower than 5-speeds
Don't all of you run your 5 speeds up to 6500 RPM when you're working it?
My auto has never been over 6000

My Auto redlines at 6500.... pretty sure there isnt a 7000rpm redline 7M supra out there, besides maybe a Group A or Turbo A or whatever.

When i floor mine with PWR button on, it will shift into second at about roughly 6200.

I shift around 5500 or so and by that time my boost has fallen off a good bit but if i had a bigger turbo and supporting mods i would go to the dyno and try to get an understand of the power curve and base my shift points off of that.

Other than that you are just guessing and no two cars even with the same exact mods are 100% the same. So my 7m might still make power at 6500 on the ct26 while another car will lose power .....

When I said redline ...... Redline is the point in which the motor will not rev any higher because its either limited by the ecu or the crank simply cant spin any faster and I know of a few 7m that are revved to 7200+rmps but dont think its wise to do it on stock ct26 powered 7m. These engine are fully balanced.

Redline is the red line on the tach, different from the point at witch you could break things from the crank turning to fast. Also different from when the TCCS cuts fuel until rpms drop.

ive herd of rev limit, witch is when the TCCS turns the engine off, being 6500, 6750 or anywhere between.

The mechanical abilities of a stock 7m are around 7000rpm, sustained 7krpm runs should need better valve springs. though ive herd of stock rotating assembly being pushed past 7krpm.

There is not a point when the engine couldnt rev any higher because the crank cant spin faster, it would have blown up by that point.

The 7m is the same engine regardless if its auto or manual, the rev limiter in the TCCS may be set differently by +-250rpm but either way its 6500rpm redline on the tach.

The dyno shows on my car that the power falls off at 5200rpm with the stock turbo. Stock it probably drops off a little higher. So theres not much point in going 6500.

My redline on the tach is 6250, maybe cuz it's a California car?

it has to do with which crank you have, 6m or 7m. 6m's rev to 6.5k while the newer 7m cranks rev to 6k. Im pretty sure this info is accurate, and i believe the 7m was used on 89+ supras.

actually, 6m cranks go to 6500, 7m's to 6250rpm.

however, the actual crank doesn't limit the RPM, i just don't remember the reason toyota did it.

the 7m crank is actually more capable of revving with a bit of work, as it's balanced much better. ;)
