Alright well I was heading up from Calgary today and I wanted to see what my Supra really had. The speedo goes only to 180kms and I have hit that point 3-4 times. But I finally got the courage to keep going and watch the RPMs instead of the speedo. So I was cruising at 180 at around 5K RPM so I kept giving it the gas. It got to what I would say is about 185KMs maybe 190 and still giving it when the car burps and almost instantly I let off the gas. I was wondering if this is fuel cut, speed limiter, or something happened with the car. If it is needed the car is the 1G-GTE 2.0L Twin turbo... As I can see a lot of people not approving of this act can we try to keep flaming to a minimal...

Speed cut is programmed in the JDM TCCS at 180 km/hr irrc, but not in the USDM version. NFI about the Canadian version.

I take it this car is a Right Hand Drive Import?

JDM ECU's; 1JZ, 7M, 2JZ, 1G, Ect. Have a speed cut at about 180 KPH.

There's a few piggybacks on the market that allow you to remove the speed cut.

Oh yes it is RHD... Ya that probably explains why the speedo only goes to 180KPH. It is not that big of a deal I just wanted to know what it was, 180 is more then fast enough.

On a side note are all JDM ECU's like that regaurdless of make/model? I know with my friends skyline his speedo only goes to 180KPH but he said he got it there and it still had room to go. Does this mean that his car is running some kind of piggyback or standalone? Or since it is just a different car it doesn't have speed cut... This is a question that doesn't need to be answered as the thread has already been answered

You can wire a inline switch to the speed sensor line to the ecu and simply flick it off when you want to go FAST, but you'll have your check engine light come on. ;)
