congratulations on the fix and getting some boost buddy. If it mainly happens when you are stopped (the smoking) it may not be your turbo it may be your valve stem seals in the head, which under the right circumstances can be done with the head on the car. Fixing that is much faster, cheaper, and easier than replacing or rebuilding a turbo, even if it's not the problem its one less thing to worry about on the 7mgte later.

It seems to happen randomly. It does not happen when I first start the car in the morning, so I was thinking that it was probably not the valve stem seals. I took it for a spin today and I didn't see any smoke, but I could smell it. Yesterday when I came to a stop light a huge cloud of smoke passed me by. I felt bad for the guy in the motorcyle next to me! lol

lol i know how you feel. sometimes i have to shut off the car if i'm in a drive thru and it starts. mine is filling up my intercooler and piping that's why i'm pretty sure it's my turbo. that and the huge shaft play

SON OF A B$%CH!! I'm pretty sure I have a BHG now! 8-( Not sure if the smoke is still coming from the turbo as well. But my coolant started disappearing and then I checked the Oil cap and I got some milky stuff in there!! OH NO! I knew I was going to have to eventually replace it since I had no confidence in the guy who did it before.

Just my luck. This car is pushing my patience! But I'm in love with it to much now.
