ok some of yall may remember when i got screwed over on ebay cause i won two cars pretty much at the same time thread title EBAY SUCKS! for those of you that want reference. well one is one the way :biglaugh: :biglaugh: the other the silver one is still in Mass. ok cool can deal with that well Carl Baxter the gentleman selling the car said he'd mail the title to me i was like cool p.s. the mail came from Rhode Island but the car is for sale in Swansea, MA :3d_frown:. well when that got here it was a frigin piece of note book paper as the bill of sale and the registration for the tag as the registration for the car i was like what the hell? so i call him and was like why is there no title and why isn't there a real bill of sale? he said that cars in Rhode Island don't need titles i did research and the joker is lieing, obviously, anyways he said he'll send a real bill of sale to me by wednesday so we'll see about that now as far as the title goes i'm thinking he either doesn't have it or the car isn't real. best case scenario IF the car is real and IF I get it and there isn't a title how can i get a title without it being salvage or is that even doable and IF not what can i do to get my money back? and report him?:1zhelp:

He has to file for a lost/duplicate title.

Ive also used notebook paper as bills of sales plenty of times. as long as the correct info is on it, the DMV has always taken it

Also, as I'm familiar with the area, Swansea is pretty close to Rhode Island, so it's not a big surprise that it's located there.

Different states are different as far as laws go, but here a bill of sale can be written on pretty much anything, and that's about all you need, aside from proof of insurance, to get the car registered and on the road.

Most states here require a title. Some states dont require titles on cars over a certain age, like georgia I think

He's actually not lying, rhode island doesn't title vehicles older than 10 years. He couldn't give you a title if he wanted to. All you should need is the bill of sale and proof the car was registered in rhode island.
