I'm finishing up my rebuild and have come to the throttle body. The thing that I can't remember where it goes is a hose with a small filter hooked to it. The only way to describe it, is it has cotton inside the middle of it. If I remember correctly it went inside of something but not quite sure what. If possible pictures would be great.

so it just sits there? doesnt go into anything?

The Dash Pot is part of the emissions system...it does more than just "sit there". Read the link Shaeff provided.

Edit:
LOL...beat me to it shaeff ;)

And you're welcome Syris :3d_frown:

ummm no it's not.
it's there so the thottle plate does not slam shut when you take the foot of the pedal aka no nasty jerk when you take you foot off the pedal

instead ti hit the button on it and lets it slowy shut aka niuce and smoooth

and i got my boxing glove's on right now and ready to fight it out

Well Nash...I think you're down for the count ;)

Take a look at the link Shaeff provided...it comes from the Emissions Control Systems section of the TRSM. The note above the table says (and I quote): "To reduce HC and Co emissions, when decelerating the dash pot opens the throttle valve slightly more at idle. This causes the air-fuel mixture to burn completely."

I'm not saying what you said about the dash pot is not true...that well could be a side effect. But, it's purpose is to reduce emissions not keep the motor smooth.
