I got the heater core out (PITA)!!!
I assume I should go with OEM heater core, right?
As I am going to have to wait for about a week for parts, (i get a good discount from dealer in NM) is there a writeup somewhere on installation tips for installing the core and dash? I think I will forget where everything goes:icon_surp

I bent the metal pipe to the core getting the hose off. Is there a way to get it round again or just buy a new one?

And last but not least, what will I do with all the left over parts when I get it back to gather:biglaugh: I think my screw and bolt collection will get bigger!!!

My collection didn't go bigger IIRC :D, maybe only 1 screw, but maybe I miscounted. I opened everything up, cleaned ( I like to clean everything :)), changed the rad, put together 1 good set from two cores, put it in ALMOST no prob :) Only broke like 1 thing :D

WOW, should of had those links before I dug into the dash.
I had no idea there were so many Supra sites.
In reading the link, an aftermarket core was used, do they work well or will I be doing the job over again?

I put a round brass rod and then again a wooden handle and made it round with a hammer.
I guess it will hold water???????

I come from a land down under
If the LHD cores are like the RHD ones there's a dip in the tank that divides it in half they split there. (under the foam crap)

My "Spare" Core was in really good condition but had split the tank I took it to my Rad shop and had them Silver Braze the split then Solder it all back together should be fine for many years.

I called a radiator shop and they said they could resolder it with no guaranty for about $30. Autozone has them for under $60 (cheap china crap???).
I could go OEM but work is slow so if I have to dig back into the rad my only loss is my time.

One good thing, they have a tool to make the brass pipe round again.

My "spare" was only a couple of years old and had cracked acress the dip in the tanks it seems to be a common failure point.

If the Silver Braze it first it'll be as strong as new ;)
(I'd prefer a repaired OEM to a new China NFI on the quality one)
