Good Compression...Blown motor??

I just checked my compression earlier today. All the numbers were taken from an average of four tests on each cylinder. Here is the weird thing, I had changed my spark plugs prior to doing the compression tests, I found oil on all the spark plugs.... ?? Its just around the thread, not on the electrode. Should I be getting these numbers if oil on the spark plugs indicate worn valve seals, or piston rings? I didn't do a wet test either, any ideas ?

I'll bet your cam covers are leaking oil down the sparkplug holes. When you removed the plugs it got on the threads.

I have two brand new 2JZ gaskets sealed with RTV hi-temp silicone. :dunno:

where on the threads? the bottom thread or the upper threads? I would say cam covers are leaking.. maybe the 2jz gaskets just are not fitting right?

its all over the top threads mostly since there were no signs of it on the electrodes. No, the gaskets are new, they fit perfectly, and I checked if there were any signs of leakage about the valve covers, abosolutely none.

Buy the real valve cover gaskets for a 1jz and your problem should go away! Turbo joe has an extra set hit him up.

:aigo: ok this is the last time I will repeat myself, lol... I have NEW 2JZ valve cover gaskets that fit PERFECTLY fine, no gaps, new grommets, new bolts, and they both are sealed with RTV hi-temp silicone. I'm 100% sure that its not the valve cover gaskets, I've started the car and ran it, then checked for oil leaks around the valve covers for the past few days now. No leaks whatsoever around the valve covers.

But thank you, if I know anyone that needs a set I will surely point them in the right direction. :icon_bigg

With compression numbers like the ones you are showing I seriously doubt there's anything wrong with that motor.

Slap some new plugs in it and tell us what you find in a couple of thousand miles. I'll bet nothing.

yeah comp. test is good they are all equal. quick question on the oil is, how much oil was on the spark plug enough to get a spoon full or a drop or two? if its just a drop or two then it might have been when u changed ur cam covers that some oil sliped thru. if its a spoon full get some brake cleaner and clean around the spark plug galley and keep an eye out for ooil leaks in the next few oil change periods. look for wet or humid areas of oil.

This is the first time I've ever seen oil in there, I've never had this problem before. I've changed my spark plugs plenty of times since owning the car.

Its no where near a spoon full, but some how oil is definately getting around them. I changed the valve cover gaskets two or three months ago, never spilled any oil around the plugs. This is the first time I've seen oil around the threads of the spark plugs.

I've been looking around the engine to see if there are any possible leaks. NONE that I've found yet, the plugs are new, so I will just have to check it again after some miles are put on them. :icon_conf

check them in another few thousand miles. i wouldnt thingk that a lil oil on a spark plug thread is gonna blow your engine. probaly just a fluke or a left over garbage gremlin.

use some good brake clean and clean everything up real nice. pop some new plugs in and check em next time you change the oil.

^^^ any ideas this might be worn valve seals? it scared me alittle seeing oil around the plugs, I started to look for a new motor too:nono:
The car ran perfectly fine today, had the boost up at 11lbs, no problems whatsoever. You know, now that I think about it, I did use anti-seize lubricate around the threads.... I'll have more pics, just another 400miles to go.

after sitting for awhile, if it doesn't smoke on start up then your seals are probably fine.

I got the chance to start the car today, after the car sat for about a week or two. No smoke whatsoever:thumbup: I have another 150miles or so till pulling the plugs out, I might just do it tomorrow for the hell of it. Pics to come...
