General question about the brakes on my 90' Civic

I'm about to sell my 1990 Civic HB and there is a problem with the brake system. I'm trying to figure it out so I know what to order so I can fix it and sell it.

When I'm sitting at a light or whatever with the brake pedal depressed, it will slowly go all the way to floor and the car will slowly start rolling. Would that mean that the brake booster is going bad? I've already bled the brakes and got all the air out. It will stop fine, it's just like I stated above when the pedal just goes to the floor.

Thanks for taking the time to look.

Reminds me of when my brake booster went out on a mountian run.

brakes all the way to the floor, very scary.

Kyle- are you confirming that it is the brake booster that I need to replace?

I'm not going to confirm, but give this a shot.

Pump the pedal rather quickly, do you feel any pressure building up?

I had the same thing, I replaced my master and brake booster and it fixed it.

I'll have to give it a try when I get home from Texas. I was going to order it tonight so it will hopefully be there when I get home on wed. Thanks.

CHecking brake booster!

Have your key off, Pump your brake pedal Until it its Compressed. keep your foot on the brake pedal and Start your car. if the brake Pedal Decompresses your brake booster is fine

Really doubt its the booster... probably just a internal leak in the master cylinder.

Typically if the booster was bad, the brakes would be very hard... like said above, they would feel like the car is off, running or not.

So my best bet is to get the master cylinder? I wish I was at the car right now to confirm that it is or isn't the brake booster. Like I said, it will stop just fine, it just looses the pressure on the brake pedal after sitting for a second.

then again E-Brake = FWD burnout fun :)

Haha, I wish. I don't think it would spin the tires even if I revved it up and dropped the clutch. It's slow as dirt. It has the 1.5l engine that has like 90hp or something like that. But, on the other hand, it gets about 38mph.

CK-PM'd you back.

your master Cylinder Possibly could be Pitted, and when your pistons compress in it, you might be sucking a Tab bit of air due to the Bore in it being pitted, your seal might be sucking in air, etc.

DO what i said for the Brake booster....

and honestly, future Reference, Dont keep buying shit that you "expect" to be the problem, you're gonna keep buying and buying and it not be it, and you're gonna be in the hole... FIgure out the problem, then buy what you need.

First off, thanks for helping me figure it out. Second, I said that I was out of town and I'm going to be ordering parts because I need to sell the car asap. I haven't ordered anything yet. I knew its either the master cylinder or brake booster and thanks to you guys, we've narrowed it down to the master cylinder.

So, don't tell me how to spend my money. If I want to buy both of them, I will.
