Can anyone tell me why my gas guage go up up at acceleration but down when slowing down and when I say go down I don't mean all the way to the bottom it just goes down enough to be noticible for example when it's close to empty if I slow down the empty light will come on but as soon as I start to accelerate it goes off I'm just a little worried about it because I don't want it to run out on gas and me have no clue about it if the gauge is saying a quarter left or something thanks

There are a couple reasons for this. If it does it on a full tank, the sender could be worn out and in serious need of a thorough cleaning. Also, the sensor which detects the fuel level uses a float mounted on an arm, when you floor it the gas in the tank moves back and up and the float drops a little.

my gauge does the same thing. When i fill the tank up it bounces up and down does as it pleases and when it gets to about half a tank or a lil under it acts normal again. My empty light doesnt come on tho until its supposed too.

Mine plays too.. but don't know when, maybe when it pleases. And that started after cleaning the sensor, before it just didn't move at all
