I also painted the valve covers to match the block. I did this because it was a very common thing to do with classic hot rods.

The last three are of a custom plug I made to block off the heater port on the back of the head. I don't drive the car in cold weather and the blower inside just moving air should be enough to defog it if needed. I picked up an oil drain plug that had a machined inner lip to fit a rubber gasket. I chose this one because the heater banjo bolt fit just right into the gasket lip on the oil drain plug.

I cut off the non threaded portion of the oil drain plug and the threaded portion of the banjo. I tapered the threaded portion of the banjo then proceeded to weld the two to make the finished plug.

Got the valve covers back on and started digging into the harness. The clump of wires are for all the stuff I removed and take out.

The bracket I made (pic 3) in order to mount six LS2 coils on the firewall (pic 4).

The last one is showing the header installed. This is a Pace Setter 6-2-1 header. I've run the car with it already and it is pretty awesome. I bought the simple painted one with further plans. Which if you look closely, the header has been wrapped and treated with high temp silicone spray.

* If you are deciding to wrap a header, I highly recommend soaking the wrap in water and applying it wet. It stretches way better and will shrink a little when it dries. *

I went through every inch of my engine harness. Some got removed, some changed or rerouted, and some got added. This took me a couple weeks of studying the schematics and tracing wires.

Once everything was checking out, I then gave it some fresh tape and loom.

I had to add the wiring for the coils. I used 16 aug. wire and some Delphi DIY connectors. I also had to install a 1 uF capacitor in the harness for each coil. This was to help the coils get a jump on charging and also some noise filtering.

I also installed and wired up a second resistor pack so I could wire one injector per channel. This is because I am switching to full sequential injection and end up over working the resistor pack if there was only one installed.

A TPS was needed as well so I installed and wired up one from the spare 7MGTE parts I had.

I did all this just for this little silver box. It is a full blown Megasquirt 3 and MS3X system. The last pick is of the MS3 system being powered up with the car's electrical.

Here are some pics of the rest being assembled over the last few days.

The last pic is where it sits at the moment. I'll be firing it up for the first time very soon here. Hope all goes well, I've been triple checking every little thing.

The vacuum and wiring on this car is now much easier to work with and knowing every inch of it makes it even easier on top of that.

Hope you have enjoyed my build so far because I know I have and can't wait to get it running and tuned.

Not to sound like a prick but the main reason is because I can. Some other reasons would be that is what I had started with to work on, and also the systems I have been addressing are bottle necks in this old-school Toyota tech. I've also been using it for experience and experimentation. This system can also do what ever I need it to. Making it much more acceptable of changes. I would have to change all the wiring anyway so why not go above and beyond and have total control.

I know that the 7MGE is frowned upon by many but never really pushed by any. I'm planning on pushing this motor to the limits while building a 7MGTE the way I want it. I honestly can't wait to see what it can do.
