Compression tests are in!

#1 - 151psi
#2 - 155psi
#3 - 135psi
#4 - 160psi
#5 - 119psi
#6 - 115psi

No BHG here from my tests - the center valley has about 1/8" of oil in it, the valve cover gaskets let go.

Squirted some 10w30 oil into #3-5-6
3 went up to 181psi
5 went up to 150psi
6 went up to 153psi

Seems 212k miles + 16psi = bad idea ;) Nevermind the fact that I have no idea how old the stock injectors in there are, or if they've ever been cleaned/flowtested. I knew better, but my mouth wrote a check that my ass couldn't cash :D

So tomorrow, I'll clean the engine back up, slap her back together, and head to Ocala on Monday. I *might* have the hookup on a 25k mile complete JDM 7MGTE for somewhere under $900 there ;) The motor looks *pristine*

If I go that route, I'll rip the head off, check all the tolerances, maybe slap new rings in just to be safe - Head to TMS in O-town, and pick up a 1.4mm MHG to go on, instead of my FelPro.

The bright side is, it will be a *hell* of a lot easier doing my 5 speed swap now :D That's what I get for trying to beat a 12.7 second LS1 Camaro SS... and getting beat by only 1.5 car lengths ;)

Why not pull my engine and rebuild it all forged, with the good stuff? I will - that will happen slowly between now and summer. For now, I just need her running again, and running good - I had (briefly) considered going 1JZ, as Jarco has a clip in stock - but decided against it, as I just picked up a ton of goodies for the 7M as it is :)

Hmm, I didn't actually realize you were in FL until now. :)

Too bad you cooked it, but 212k miles, it led a pretty long life...

Considering about 14-16k of them were me? Yeah, yeah it did ;) I could drop the boost and continue running with it, but I have bigger plans :D

Oh crap, thats no good! You just had it running so smooth too! I honestly just got my car running great also after learning so much from your MAFTpro threads.:icon_bigg Any ideas on what went wrong? Just boosting around on a tired motor should not necessarily end up with toasted rings on 3 cylinders! Did you by chance get any EGT readings after you got the AFR dialed in? What octane gas were you running? Even though youre running 16 psi on stock injectors, you still had good AFR's so its not like you were running out of fuel. Timing okay?

Anyway, good luck on the new motor search!

I don't have an EGT probe - that needs to change :) 93 octane is all my Supra has seen since I got her :D

Timing was all stock, and all ok. I think what I had going on, was a couple leaking injectors caused me to lean those 3 cylinders out.

AFAIK, these injectors had 200+k miles on them, as well. It's a shame, too, as I have a *brand new* set of 550 Denso's sitting here :)

I am suprised it lasted that long. You know the whole M series is one big design flaw.

Oh yeah, just ask anyone! The M series was a complete joke, and obviously Toyota was filled with complete idiots for what... 20 years? ;) (yes, I caught your sarcasm, lol)

I took a 212,000 mile engine, did some basic maintainence (I've spent about $3000 total on the car), some basic mods, and ran with a mid 12 second car. I'm going to replace the valve cover gaskets today, and I can run around with a little blow by for a couple days, while I see about snagging that low mileage 7MGTE to do a little more work on :)

Not only that, but the Felpro + ARPs, on a CONFIRMED FLAT head and deck, did very well. I have zero leakage from the HG. The engine is just old, tired, and in need of rebuilding. I'm going to work on some wiring issues today on her, and do some general cleaning up all around, to prepare for extraction of the automagic/GTE combo.
