well i had allready posted how i got anna runing but shortly after she wouldn't start back up so finally after a day of trying to get her started i figured i'd check the cam timing again(was in spec first time i started her) and sure anuff the exhaust cam had had jumped about 5-6 teeth off??? but i'm glad to say now shes running like a champ (knock on wood). I do have to go back and set the timing with a light because i just set it by ear but thats no big deal.
i was happy so i thought i'd make a post never did find out what the 2 unplugged connecters under the dash went to but every thing in the car is working so who knows

lol man you've never set your timing by ear it must be a v8 thing lol thats where i learned to do it just listen to how the motor is running when you find the spot you think its running the best you've got it. works in a pinch but doesn't replace a timing light

The differences on the 7M are subtler, but there is a difference... and no, timing by ear is no replacement for a timing light.

Did you find how the timing belt managed to let loose of the exhaust cam that much?

just for fun I've retimed motors in all my cars by ear. When I check with the light it's a rare day to be off more than 1 deg. But yes, the 7m is harder than SBF...

It can be done, but always good to double check.

Took anna out for her first test run today. I only took her to the end of the road and threw the yard but it was still fun as hell from the end of the road to the hous is about 1/16 of a mile lol but i was glas to see she was making a solid 7.5 psi seemed odd because of the fact i don't have an exhaust on only a downpipe and it has a k&n cai but what ever it was fun. I do think i have a boost leak some where for 7.5 pounds it felt kinda slow might be that I haven't put a timing light on her yet? but man she can cut some mean dounuts it the yard:evil2: lol

good news i found my vac leak the hose that hoes from the 3000 pipe to the bov had a split on the bottom i fixed it and the supra feels like a different car now. From first she pulls hard all the way to redline unlike before where she fell on her face at 4.5k
