After further investigation the 9473PT is NOT an MLS. In that light, I will be going with a Cometic. Sorry for any confusion I may have caused.
I'm planning to go with this FelPro metal head gasket, provided they don't have to shave to much off the head.

Looks like I may be the first here to go with this one. I'll let you know who it holds up. I think it should do ok since I probably won't be boosting over 14psi and probably not over 12psi till I get my waiting mods installed.

quoted straight from Fel-Pro:

"Fel-Pro PermaTouqueMLS multi-layer STEEL head gaskets. These advanced gaskets feature multiple layers of full-hard stainless steel, precise sealing beads and a proprietary coating that accomodates to a wide range of surface finishes."

Did a bit of research on the FelPro MLS and the news is good!

I think Cometic will work at 50 RA.

Select PermaTorqueMLS gaskets feature a special coating specifically formulated
for the aftermarket’s repair environment. While most MLS gaskets require a surface
smoother than 40 Ra (400 Rz), these Fel-Pro PermaTorqueMLS head gaskets will seal
a surface finish as rough as 60 Ra (600 Rz).

ooh

i knew they sold an MLS but wasn't sure of the Application.

Now to look for the MLS spray that Felpro makes also (instead of the permatex brake quiet).

SUBJECT: Multi-Layer Steel (MLS) Head Gasket Installation Procedures

GROUP: Engine
DATE: Nov. 6,1998
MODELS:

1995 - 1999 (JA) Cirrus/Stratus/Breeze
1996 - 1999 (JX) Sebring Convertible
1996 - 1999 (NS) Town & Country/Caravan/Voyager
1995 - 1999 (PL) Neon
1997 - 1999 (GS) Chrysler Voyager (international Market)
NOTE: THIS INFORMATION APPLIES TO MODELS WITH A 2.0L SOHC/DOHC OR 2.4L ENGINE.
DISCUSSION:
A new Multi-Layer Steel (MLS) head gasket has been developed and is being implemented into production vehicles. Additionally, it has been approved for service applications.

This new gasket will provide superior sealing characteristics, but will require extra care in its installation where a composite gasket was previously in place. The following steps will assist service technicians in the proper installation of this MLS gasket.

.......

8. Spray both sides of the MLS gasket with a coat of MOPAR spray gasket sealant p/n 04318035.

^ that's a 1998 note. Does that spray still apply to the new PermaTouqueMLS?

I do not have it yet, so I don't have the instructions that would come with it.

According to the Felpro info I could find they do not require a spray on coating with the Permatorque MLS. I cannot find anything about a specific Felpro MLS spray anywhere.

The app note above is old, but Mopar still makes that gasket spray. It is the first time I've seen an official OEM note about using a spray on sealer for an MLS. Not sure what it offers relative to Brake-Quiet or copper spray.

I put one on a Neon at an independent shop. Instructions said it will accomodate a rough surface. I followed the directive of clean the deck surfaces, put it together and ship it. It sealed and restarted. Don't know if it blew later. It did have a rubbery type of coating on it.

Seems there is a difference in PermaTorque and PermaTorqueMLS
AND, It has been said that the Fel-Pro PT-MLS is not yet available for the 7M.

PT is just a laminated steel core
PTMLS is the multi-layered steel

PermaTorque
Fel-Pro PermaTorque® head gaskets include a wire ring combustion seal inserted inside the stainless steel armor. The wire ring design provides highly concentrated sealing around the combustion chamber.

• The rubber / fiber facing material of the gasket is reinforced with KEVLAR® fiber, laminated to a solid steel core to resist torque loss and seal fluids.

PermaTorqueMLS
The latest innovation from the proven leaders in sealing technology ----- Fel-Pro MLS (multi-layered steel) head gaskets are proven to handle big power any way you make it! Boost, nitrous, or naturally aspirated – if you need the ultimate in combustion sealing, you need Fel-Pro PermaTorqueMLS.

• MLS maintains contact pressure between the cylinder head and block

• Seals combustion, oil and coolant despite extreme horizontal and vertical motion between head and block

• Distribute clamping loads strategically across the entire cylinder head for optimized sealing
