Factory Sound Deadening

I pulled up my carpet and the factory sound deadening looks pretty hard. I hear the MK3 was a decently quiet car from the factory, but things can change in 25 years. Those of you who have ripped it out to save weight, how much of a difference was there? And how much quieter would the car be with a layer of new stuff?

Do you have stock bushings or poly?

It's the stock bushings, I've looked into replacing the old tired suspension. I've got kyb gr2's sitting in my garage just waiting to be installed but I want to do it all at once.

I'd like to completely strip the car and stitch weld the seams then put down all new sound deadening material.
