Hey guys I am embarking on the hunt for a "better" heat shield for the STOCK exhaust manifold. I found this fabric that can handle 1800F constant and 2200F intermittent. Its designed to be used directly on the exhaust manifold.

I am debating between simply covering the top of the manifold. This would replicate the coverage the stock heat shields provide.

Or

Completely covering the portions I can like a turbo blanket does, all the way around. The diesel guys use this on the cast manifolds. I was thinking of trying to replicate this on the 7m manifold.

My manifold is already ceramic coated. So are the turbine and DP. I am not worried about corrosion due to moisture. I am aware of the increased heat stress that may crack the manifold over time but do not have any first hand experience with this type of failure. I spent a lot of time and money rebuilding the harness and want to keep temps down for stop and go city driving.

Opinions or suggestions?
Build a manifold "blanket" or just cover the top of the manifold like stock heat shields?
