OK. I know this has been already talked about but i still cant make up my mind. I have a non turbo auto 87 supra. I am planning to get a whole new cat back exhaust. My tip is a 4" TRD muffler. I was wondering how big the piping should be 2.5" or 3"? Some people say 3" is to big but some people say 3" makes makes the car run like a whole differnt car. But other people say 2.5" because 3" will create back pressure. Please help me thanks.

This whole debate is argued in the N/A mod sticky...try reading that info and deciding for yourself.

To help you in your choice, just go 3 inch so if you plan to go turbo you'll be fine. Supposedly 3 inch is better high end than 2.5 inch, but 2.5 inch gives you better low-mid range. I have a 2.5 inch exhaust with magnaflow muffler and high flo cat and it's pretty loud, but it's your call. Only reason I've got a 2.5 inch exhaust is because I got it for around 100 bucks (good deal). As I said before, read on the N/A mod thread to see people's opinions on 2.5 vs 3 inch exhaust.

Lol, I've read all the exhaust threads I could find, and have still changed my exhaust 3 times trying to find exactly what I want(not there yet, back to the exhaust shop). Right now I'm running an 18" glass pack for a resonator, and a 2 chamber flow out on the end. Think I'm gonna go to a bigger pipe next. It's a little to quiet now....
