The prop used from 2:54-3:50 is a great example! I feel that the simplistic visuals throughout the 40s &50s are much easier to grasp in comparison to modernized examples. This video would have made my automatic transmissions instructer's life too easy.

Just realised that this is just the fluid coupling, not the whole torque converter (torque converter has an extra bit that multiplies the torque), but still the basics are the same.

Would this same principal apply to viscous coupling LSD differentials as well? I always just chalked up autos to voodoo.

in modern oils we use a fluid that solidifies during certain pressures causing a much stronger transfer of energy.
