ok I recently installed the motor. It's a na 87. At idle it seems fine. No problems when I rev the motor. But if I rev it and hold it at say 3k it will bog down catch itself, idle fine for a moment then do it again. I haven't run codes yet. And I didn't really time it just set it to zero and did everything. Do you think maybe that could be it?thanks

Check your codes.
You need to makes sure valve timing was done correctly...cam gears on the index and dampner pointing at zero when the distributor was installed (pointing at #1 plug) per the TSRM. Then you can set basic timing by jumping the diagnostic block and set to 10 deg BDTC.
You need to make very sure there are no vacuum leaks.
Did you remove anything from this motor in order to "clean up appearance"?
