im looking at 2 engines (7mgte) to replace the one that is in my 1989 toyota supra turbo, my engine has 203,000+ miles on it

the one engine im looking at is from jarco and it is $1895 + $495 for a hks metal head gasket and arp bolts + $165 shipping, total = $2555 with a 12,000 mile, 12 month warranty

the reason im not completly sure about the jarco engine is that in the description it says that the crankshaft, connecting rods, and pistions have not been replaced but cleaned and check for cracks and abnormal wear befor reassembly

the other engine is more money $3500 total with a 3 year unlimited mile warrenty, but i don't have the option for a metal head gasket and arp bolts, the reason im looking at this one is because i think that the crankshaft, connecting rods, and pistions have been replaced, but i have to check with the person who is getting the engine for me to be sure, but lets just say that they are for now

i just think that the engine with those replaced parts would be better in the long run, and if it turns out they are not replaced, i will buy the jarco engine with the hks metal head gasket and arp bolts

is it worth spending the extra $945 one the engine with the replaced parts and stock head gasket and bolts?

i would just like some other opinions on this

why not take your used 7m-gte that u have and tear it all down and get it rebuilt? u can upgrade all of your parts or get them back to stock, get a MHG and some arp bolts for well under $3500. plus u dont have to worry about shipping and this way u know for sure what parts u have and what condition they are in.

Brandon, hop in on the Probe Forged Piston group buy ($334.50 + shipping for a set of FORGED slugs + upgraded wrist pins + rings) and rebuild your motor yourself :)

Then there is no question of the quality of the work - you know exactly what's what in that motor!

I'd spend the money on a rebuild as well. As long as you have a good hookup for the machine work, it gives a further edge in reliability I think. Its a lot of work, but like other members have mentioned, you'll know whats in there. I'd also pay attention to the rods, ARP fasteners and destressing is a good plan. A rotating bottom end balance is worth the $$ as well if you're going to all the trouble already. Those group buy forged Probe slugs sound like a deal. Get a die grinder and you can do a mild port and polish on the head for free, too.
