I have two quick engine harness questions the first is I know there are different wire harnesses for auto and manual and different ones from the 87-88 yellow plug and the later grey plug however I read somewhere that the early 89 may have a different harness then the other post 88 grey plug ones. Is this true and if so how do you go about figuring out if you are buying an early 89 grey plug harness? My other question is how hard is it to remove and reinstall the harness with the engine still in the car are there any tips tricks or trouble spots? I installed my R154 trany but now either want to pull the auto harness in favor of a manual one or pull the auto one so I can solder in a pigtail for my back up lights. Any info would be appreciated.

only difference that i know of is the body plug on some early 89 will plug into the 88 and under dash harness.

removing it with engine in car is a pain. and if you removed the auto, if it was junk, cut the plug in off the tranny and soder the harness outside the car, then plug it in to the stock auto plug
