Having a slight problem with dash electronics. Whenever I depress the brake pedal I lose lighting to my HVAC control panel. All the HVAC works but I los the indicator lights and temprature setting lights while brake pedal is depressed. When released everything lights up perfectly. When lights are on the button backlighting stays lit.

I have installed an aftermarket head unit in to stock radio location. I used the factory harness with adaptors for the radio. Is the only under-dash tinkering I have done since purchase. Was looking in the wiring diagrams online last night and didnt notice a correlation between the 2 items. Was wondering if anyone else has had a similar expirience before I take too much of my dash apart looking for the problem.

Vehicle specs:
'87 N/A auto w/Targa top. Mostly stock condition except for stereo install, upgraded intake tube wheels and body kit.

Those two items share the gage fuse. It is 7.5 amps. If you are short, you could be blowing fuses. You clearly aren't as the lights are still on. I think you somehow are interupting ground. Ground is the white with black.

Look under the dash and by the brake pedal for the wire. Maybe you are pulling on it with the brake pedal, and not the switch.
