Quick question -

I was getting ready to put my VSV's on my motor (on the stand) and realized that I have 2 that are the same - both FPU VSV's. I don't have an EGR valve (as per spec'd by the book). This seems to be a problem...

In testing the VSV's two weeks ago, I didn't make the connection that they were both the same (one had the little filter broke off) so when I tested them (TSRM), the rear one (also had the filter broken off) failed the EGR VSV test (duh - they don't work the same).

I ordered a new one (asked for EGR) from Elmhurst Toyota, opened the box to bolt it on, and realized it looked the same like the other two....this is when I realized there was an issue.

My question is - because the FPU VSV will pass vacuum when un-energized, when used on the EGR side it would leave the EGR valve open until the circuit is energized (which opens the vent/filter side) - which essentially means the EGR system will work backwards, correct?

If that is the case, anybody want to trade a working (passed TSRM test) FPU VSV for a working EGR VSV?......

After doing some more research in the TSRM, I realized that I was a dolt and was looking at the 7m-ge egr layout, not the gte... The ge uses a different EGR VSV set-up.

And I figured this out before my morning cup of coffee...

I have the correct parts (and p/n's) I was looking at the wrong diagram when doing the testing (ge and gte use different p/n's).

I do have a brand new VSV that is the correct one for the gte which I am using.
