Quick update

Bearing is out, but I gotta run to the store real quick. WoOt!


Oh yeah, and my new bearing doesn't have any play at all. We'll see how well it does when I put the driveshaft back in though

Ok, I got it all done tonight and just got back from the test drive. HOLY CRAP! It's like a brand new freaking car. At idle it's quiet, nothing shakes and there's no annoying buzzing from the vibrations! haha. All in all swapping the bearing from the new support to the old support wasn't bad.

I used a 1/4" drill bit to drill the welds out of the old housings (it's the perfect size to drill the welds out). Then I used 1/4" bolts, nuts and lock washers to close it back up and it's all holding perfectly.

I just finished mine up myself. I didn't get started until almost 11, and then wasted 1/2 an hour to go buy a socket I found out I already had.

I used the same setup for replacing the bearing in the housing, and like you the test drive was smooooooth! I'll give it a good 190 mile test in the morning. Not a bad job, overall - I kind of enjoyed it.

I'm interested in how long these things last, so shoot me a message if your bearings fail early. I really don't expect the cheap Chinese thing to last, but it might surprise me. If it goes again, I'll be heading straight to a 1 piece and be done with it.

Yeah, shoot me a PM too if yours goes out, haha. During the drive i was paranoid as crap, everytime I hit a bump I was like "DAH! Stupid bearing is shot now..."
