down pipe/any suggestions?

Looking at the picture in this link to an OBX DP for the MKIII I will give you my opinon on it. Stailess steel, good, but it is 2.5" from the turbo elbow, then ramps up to 3" right after the flex section. If you want the best you can get, a full 3" DP would be best, especially one that either bolts up to a full 3" turbo elbow, or has one incorporated into it. What power are you wanting? That down pipe would be a good improvement over the stock one, but it still has a bottleneck in it. Why buy an aftermarket exhaust piece that has a bottleneck? Isn't that the purpose of aftermarket exhausts, to get rid of all bottlenecks?

it's a direct copy of the HKS one IIRC...
and the HKS one sucks as it's the elbow that's tghe true restriction...

You are likely going to want to get rid of the stock elbow at some point. If budget allows, get one with the elbow integrated.
Cooleeze sells on ebay; I got a coated full 3" DP with integrated elbow for $200.
Well worth it if you consider the quality and that I won't have to purchase a $100-$150 elbow.
A divorced downpipe is also great. I definitely would have gotten one if I didn't get such a deal on the Cooleeze.

You've got a good deal on the Cooleeze DP, a regular one starts out around $300.00, bad part is, they are mild steel and will rust, I know, I've got one and so does my cousin 
. They are pretty thick though, I'll be shipping mine off in the future to get ceramic coated ::cough::jdub::cough::.

^ Um... that's the same thing were're talking about, the exact same thing... They rust after you've heated them up real good with your turbo. I painted mine with a 1500 degree paint, wrapped it in header wrap, then sprayed on a specieal extreme high temp paint designed for header wrap. The 1500 degree paint started chiping around the o2 sensor where the header wrap didn't get it. It's best to either opt for a ceramic coated version right off the bat, or get the one you already have coated . If I had to do it over again, I would have paid the $400 for the ceramic coated one.

Unless you've got an aftermarket bolt-on turbo, like a BOSS series, where the wastegaets are significantly larger than the ones on the CT-26, then you run into flowing problems through the WG tube. That's why Suprasport doesn't offer a DDP and suggests using their turbo elbow or a full flowing elbow, downpipe combo .

i purchased,one for like $70 at tuning-pros. It looks like the obx and it sucks. i had to make it fit.But theres no rust on it. I got the thing about 4 years ago....i was in high school. Working at wendys, part time does not pay alot...lol.So for $70 , i think it's an ok deal. I would not pay $ 100 for one.http://www.tuningpros.com/
BIC makes a DDP specifically for the SP61, I'm curious as to the size of their WG compared to a BOSS WG. I'm guessing that's the difference between a regular DDP and one made for the SP61, the larger WG tube...
nope, the difference IIRC is the part that actually goes into the back housing of the turbo and sections off the wastegate
BOSS should be just fine with a DDP, only thing I can see is if the wastegate is too small and you get boost creep and spikes (like DSM's)
going true T04 with an external wastegate is still best IMHO compared to any of the bolt on turbos that still have to flow through the stock manifold...

I have a megan downpipe which is the same as the obx also a hks knockoff but i like it a lot full stainless, nice tig welds, flexsection, thick flanges,nice fitment for the money its a good deal. If your looking for mega hp you might not like it
I like the top end bump my megamouth DP gives me. I ran right off the test pipe with my car for a long time. You wouldn't believe the difference made with a full 3" exhaust. Sure it doesn't sound like a big semi's turbo spooling off the test pipe anymore, and I lost a tad bit of spool time, but the top end power was bumped up quite noticably from just running off the test pipe.
Poodles, I don't think there would be any problems whatsoever with the wastegate of a BOSS turbo being too small, they are already quite large compared to a stock WG.
