Door locked shut

I took my drivers side door apart a couple days ago after recently importing it into Canada. The latch was all gummed up somehow so it would not shut. After a bit of greasing and lubing it loosened up and the door closed. Somewhere allong the line the door locked, permanently. It will not open at all. I tried the electric locks, the door lock, and manually unlocking it with the linkage but it seems to be seized up or very stiff. How can I unlock the door so I can take all the door internals out again to get replacement ones from the dealership?

I have messed with it for over an hour and the door still is locked. How can I possibly open the door and unlock it? I need to do this ASAP so I can get it inspected then registered under my name, it's still in the previous owners name:nono:

Here is my old post with the latch info:

Thanks for any help, SM community has helped me a lot the short time I have been here.

TIA

uhh... no sure if it's possible in a mkIII, but when this happened to my 82 i had to remove the door panel with the door shut, a COMPLETE PITA. and IIRC there are screws between the front part of the door and the dash, so I have no idea. Try having a cop come over and see if he can pop the lock w/ his tool thing. Other than that, all I can say is start at the bottom back corner and just slowlybend it enough to get your hand in there so you an feel for foreign objects in the latch area, somehow I had a screw wedged in all of the mess.

the resort is to take a hack saw take the blade off attake dry wall saw handle to it and just cut the latch the ring part not the door

yopu may get some scarch fomr ti but it will make your door open if the flat blade screw drive is no go thing

The door panel is already off, I have access to all the internals.

I don't really want to cut anything, its not the linkage, but something in the latch part I think.

Thanks

Not really sure what arm you are talking about, there are quite a few pieces in there. I will see what I can do.

Thanks

Here are a bunch of pictures I took to hopefully help someone help me...
Some of them are sideways because I had to rotate the camera to fit...

The good door has the panel on still so no pictures yet. I am going to Toronto for a week, when I get back I will take it off and post pictures if still needed.

best course of action right now would probably be to clean it all off really well, so you can get a clear view of what's happening. after you get it fixed, you can relube it before assembly with some white lithium grease. im still lookin at the pics, tryin to figure out what might be wrong.

All I would say without pulling my door apart is that in your 3rd picture you can see the key lock lever. I would push or pull on that one to unlock it while you push and or pull the top and bottom rods to open the door (in the first picture) all at the same time while leaning against your door while cursing at it..

Edit: And lots of rust/lube spray.

the piece in your pic that connects to the yellow/green connector is the lock. It is thinner than the others. It should move up and down, and control the lock in the latch. You may be able to disconnect it from the connector, and move it manually. Or, your latch may be screwed. Also, the line covered in foam should open the door if operating properly. That will keep you from getting your hands back out to try and open it while you work. I assume you have tried it from inside and out with no luck. Not trying to insult your intelligence.

I do have several latch mechanisms if you need one, and can make pictures of one out of the car if need be.

edit.......ya, what Joel said

ok now i got pic i tell yae what to do the blue cliped rod is your door lock un lokc it frist ehheheh

the one wiht the slide pin is you door latch hand from out side push down or pull up but i pretty dmqa eure it is down and it should open the door if not use screw driver

oh yae if ti just seive up use long or more then one 1/2 drive extetion and use hammer and smake the door latch do not break it or dent it but give it a god smack this will loosen ti up but by looking at that it looks to be very wel oiled

any way s good luck
