my car died today while i was driving. i was driving and i was boosting for a short peroid, then i slowed down and was driving normal and my car lost power. i let it coast in gear and exhaust was still coming out but when i pushed on the gas there was nothing it just got quiet and it eventualy died completely. i tried starting it agian and it would crank but wouldnt start. lights and everything still work so the battery and all that is good. but when i turn the key to just the power on Position i cant hear the fuel pump anymore.. so would this be a bad fuel pump? bad fuse? bad wiring? any ideas would be great, i had to have the car towed :S i just didnt think the fuel pump would just completely go out all of a sudden... also the fuel pump in the car is a walbro 255 that i put in about 10 months ago.

ya i had a friend try to start the car while i jiggled the CPS wires around... still didn't start. i was told you could hear the fuel pump whine just from turning the key to the on position? as for codes i didn't get a chance to do that, i didn't have a paper clip on me and the tow truck was ready to take it away :(,,,, does anyone think its something other than the fuel pump??

You were told wrong...Fp and +B have to be jumped (just like the TSRM says) for the pump to run with the motor off.
Stop listening to your friends and RTFM.

If you can't find the time to check for codes, there is no point in "guessing"...it's a complete waste of time.
