Hello guys.

Does anyone here run a in 2JZ-GE their MK3 Supra? I’ve been looking into doing a 2JZ-GE swap, but putting a big single on her before she went in.

I haven’t seen any MK3’s with a GE installed and I can’t seem to understand why. GE’s are a lot cheaper than GTE’s (at least here in England), Easier to find and doing the Transmission will be a lot Easier (As NA MK4’s run a W58, the same tranny as a NA MK3).

I still can't see why there aren't many 2JZ-GE'd MK3's out there? Am I missing something vital? Someone please explan

Thanks for the Help

Josh

ummm...cause its not a turbo? correct me if Im wrong here since Im an NA guy...but Im pretty sure the reason why people dont dont do 2JZGE swaps are...why bother going through the hassel for an NA.

sure you can drop a ton of cash on a NA-T setup for one, but so much for it being cheaper.

Hmm, Not sure about American Prices, but Surely it's Cheaper to go 2JZ NA-T then it would be to build a 1JZ or 7M up to the same Level (say, 400-500 bhp)?

7MGTE is cheaper and it already comes with a turbo and the 2J turbo kits are $$$ and the engine isn't really better than the 7M.

The 7M is cheaper, but not by much. By the time the HG and other "Vital" upgrades, It will probably turn out to be a lot more?

In no Way am I bashing the 7M, I'm just looking at the most cost effctive way to make 500hp.

7m is cheaper, vital upgrades are just a mhg. Everything can be reused from the ma chassis, harnesses, ecus, no wiring hassles or fooling with na electronics and high compression.

If you swap a GTE into an NA chassis then you defintely will not be able to use the NA (engine) electronics.

If you go NA-T then you can use NA electronics but you will have to use a SAFC and get the car tuned for it to not kill itself at some point. But if you go GTE electronics then no worries.

The trouble I see with going 2JZ-GE is that you go through the pain of putting a 2JZ in your car...AND you go through the pain of NA-T. And there's no way I would just drop a used engine in my car and then want to turbo it without some kind of rebuild, forget that. I would spend the little bit of extra money and do it right the first time.
