i was moving my engine out of the rain last night and decided to fiddle with tthe ps pump. the a/c compressor and ps pump were both off already so i think i had it all on right.

is the a/c cmpressor required to have the ps pump since as is used as a bracket?

There is actually I believe 4 bolts that hold the AC compressor to the bracket that it is attached to. So, the compressor is not required to be there. You'll have to get a different belt though that will work with the lack of the AC pulley.

you probably have a 1JZ, but with a 2JZ you can use the same belt, you have no choice really, since there is only 1 belt made for 2JZ engines ( any 2JZ equipped car has A/C )...

you have to re-route it, trust me it works. just make sure all the components rotate the right direction once you get the belt on.
