well heres my dillema. today i was doing some dash work to put in a bunch of after market gauges and the way the wiring to say is set up back there is on a thin sheet of green shit (whatever its called ) and this leads me to my problem. i am taking out my stock gauge for water temperature and it uses a copper wire that leads into the engine bay and replaces the stock temp sensor. so now i am wondering, has anyone ever kept a functioning birdcage after such an install? hell can someone give me an overview on which leads do what on this? any help is appreciated.

Umm, the low coolant sensor is in the overflow...

I'm not sure I'm understand what you're talking about though.

do you need the gauge thingy? no,imo, but the gauge is the only way to tell if your overflow bottle is low or has a leak. but you could just hook up a remote led for the bottle, you just need to remember then what it was for!

the birdcage just tells you if the overflow coolant bottle is low - it has nothing to do with the temp gauge.
