Different kinda tranny issue

well hi everyone. I know that there are a butt LOAD of tranny threads but i got a 7mgte and my tranny got a lilttle issue. I wont go into second smoothly i got to force it in if i want it in second. I think it's a bad synchro thats what one of my buddys told me but iono. Or is it my tranny every time i try to go in to it, it will grind big time. I just wanna get this done befor spring hits. I got a whole NA with motor and everthing so are the R154 and W58 interchangable?? iono sorry if i sound dumb i a beginner.:icon_bigg haha

yes the r154 and w58 are interchangeable, but they use diff clutch setups and diff length driveshafts,
