As the title says today i got under my car to check some bushings out on my rear suspension and i spotted what looked to be gear oil all over the buttom of the car above the diff snout. The top of the diff itself was dry, The subframe above it was dry, It wasnt dripping the whole diff was dry as a bone just the top of the car had what looked to be gear oil on it and part of the exhaust where it looked like it dripped down and burned onto it.

The weird thing is it doesnt smell like gear oil it all......it has no smell.

Two days ago i found 2 drops of gear oil in my driveway and they smelled of it strongly and looked exactly like this substance on the buttom of my car but they were up the driveway about 3 feet in front of the diff i checked the trans and it was dry also.

Heres a couple of pics of the oily mess but it was hard to get very good pics you can see it over the driveshaft and on the ebrake cables.

We thought the seal may be leaking only when hot and slinging it up there but i just drove the car yesterday if it was slinging it wouldnt there be atleast a little bit dripping or still on the diff or subframe?

that blows........ Does anybody know the part number for the seal i need? I found the one on the TSRM and pulled it up on a toyota parts site and it gave me like 7 diffrent seals for cressidas and then one for a supra with lsd 84-87 and then one for supra 84-92, its uber confusing.

My car is an 86.5 n/a 5spd with an LSD if it helps to find the part number.

http://www.trademotion.com/partloca...e=34&model=Celica Supra&year=1988&catalogid=1

Pinion seal, supra - independent type - INDEPENDENT TYPE 84-92 $16.06 $12.21

that is the one you are after

or just call marlin crawler

http://www.marlincrawler.com/htm/diff/pickup_diff.htm

Solid Spacers

Solid pinion spacers replace the factory crush sleeve. These spacers reduce the need to retighten pinion nuts and reduce R&P failure due to excess backlash.

MC-14692, Solid Pinion Spacer, V6 & High Pinion, $29

and get this as well you diff will thank you teh factory crush sleav is junk

i run this as well in my diff just love it cause i am worrie free

Or buy another LSD diff in good condition (the whole pumpkin) and just swap it out. That's what I did when my diff started to leak bad.

Id prolly do that if i could afford it......

I still dont understand how its slinging it all over like that but the top of the diff and behind the flange is dry as a bone even the part of the subframe that goes over the top of the diff is dry too.

Im gonna have to get under the car again and go from there, Thanks for the help guys.
