you could probly make it work, and i'd think it boost very quickly too because most diesel trucks red line like at 4000rpm! and run around 25psi.

It will work. Turbos are turbos. The a/r on the hotside is a little large, but it would still spool, just not sure when.

If its the reverse rotation model on the powerstroke, you'll just have to point the compressor housing up and not down. Also, if its the variable vein turbo, don't touch it unless you're planning on reselling it.

It won't work because a diesel engine has 18:1 or as high as 23:1 compression ratio, creating significanly higher cylinder pressure than a 7M. The engines are completely different in design, and the turbo is made for the engine.

There is nothing that says he can't expirement though.

yea that would be bad I doubt a 1GGTE would spool that, those turbo's are designed for the engines, trying to adapt it would probably cost more than its worth. But hey man do what you will.

i know i want to go single on my 1ggte and i want a decent size turbo but i dont wanna have lag so bad that it would take all day to spool.

Hate to tell you you're wrong Nick, but you're wrong. :nono:

Most of the early years of power stroke engines used a large shaft to4 setup with a different comp housing and a monster exhaust housing. Some were reverse rotation compaired to a typical to4. The shafts were typically P trim, Q or S trims. The compressor wheels are around 60mm or larger IIRC.

Additionaly, you can take the Holset hy35 or the hx35 that came on the Dodge ram pickups. They are great turbos, and spool very very rapidly. You can make around 450hp with the holset 35 series and see full boost at 3200rpms.

On top of the different cylinder pressure, the Power Stroke was 7.3 litres of displacement. That is why that big turbo spools fast. If it worked so well, it wouldn't be such an issue to get it.(a 7M turbo that spools superfast and delivers T78 power)

That exhaust area to radius effects spool based on the engine. It is not going to spool just like the diesel on his 1G or a 7M.
