Just got one thing to add to this, Diesels flow more exhaust but at slower speeds(less pressure). On 2.0L Talons the HX35 hits full boost at aprox. 3800 rpm. Diesel turbos in general spool quite quickly due to the fact that prior to having any boost diesels push useless amounts of exhaust out(taking flow speed into account). Slightly off topic with this too, The holeset(HX series HX 35 40 50 52 ect.) are VERY strong turbos built for abuse, I would think most of the other ones off other diesels are nearly/just as strong.

I have a Borg Warner turbo that came off of a John Deere Diesel. I like the way it spools. The car drives like a NA until around 2500rpm (only 2psi) then by the time I hit 3000rpm spools up to around 12psi wastegate regulated. I had to make a custom down pipe out of the John Deere exhaust flange (40$)(3.5in) to the 2jz down pipe that you can buy on e-bay for 100$ bucks or so (3in). It was all kind of a pain in the butt. It all started with the brand new turbo deal on e-bay for under 300$ bucks. I have only put 2000 miles on it but so far so good.

a Holset hx35 off of a 5.9 cummins out of a dodge truck is perfect. the compressor map is almost identical to a t-61 turbo. If you think about it, it makes perfect sense, its a motor 2 times the size that spins half the rpms. There are also variable geometry versions of these turbos. If you are looking for a little more than a t-61 equivalent a hx40 is a bit larger and can be found on some school buses, some of which even come with a t4 flange. or if you are looking for something a little smaller a hx 30 would be perfect for a very quick spooling 3 liter. All of these turbos are available with variable geometry. a HX35 is your cheapest bet due to how common they are from people upgrading the dodge trucks.

anyone know anything about schwitzer turbos? I'm having trouble finding any information on it. The only i know is that it comes off of a John Deere diesel. On the name plate it says its a 3lm-299. Picked it up cheap don't know whether to sell it or use it.
