Last time i took my dash out due to i thought that was the way u can get to the four nuts that hold the brake booster in place.Of course i was wrong and my brake booster is fine, but after i hooked the dash panel back up the light would not turn on so i could glance at the gauges to study my speed and other gauges.I know i hooked it up right but when i go to the second klick up which just tuen on the side markers the lights would come on for the temp control but when i klick it to the last to where the lights would pop up still no lights on the dash panel and the light on the temp control would turn off.Can anybody tell me what to look for please:aigo:

Checked the dimmer? It's probably fried or unplugged... at least that's the most common cause of this issue.

CRE, that is a good thing to check first in most cases but he states that the CC lights do light up, but nothing else. That is, if I understand correctly...

Do the instruments work?

If so, then pull the cluster and make sure you didn't miss a plug.

If they don't work, check your 3B connector at JB 3. It's location is in the first the link and the plugs are labeled in the second link. If it's secure, then pull the cluster anyway and check for loose plugs.

If the CC is going dark once the lights are turned on the issue isn't the cluster... well, not unless there are more problems. Harness is a definite possibility, but start with the easy things to check first.

Yeah good thinking guys… check the dimmer make sure that is connected because you have to disconnected when you pull out your dash.. Also check the plugs… if I am remembering right the white plug powers the small lights… and if not then check the light bulbs … if non of this works then I don’t know.. that’s all can think of.

Just noticed something else in your post... There are three positions to the headlight switch other than off, let's clarify: So when you turn the light switch to the SECOND position to turn on the marker lights, the button backlights light up? But when you turn it the rest of the way to the THIRD position and the headlights come up then the CC goes dark? If so, trydrew is correct and the dimmer is unlikely... but the same goes for the cluster's wiring. Do the marker lights stay lit when the headlights are on or are they turning off as well?

Can you hear a relay been energized when you turn you lights on? Plus does the glove box/ashtray illuminate when you turn you lights on?

If so, then pull the dimmer off, you can bypass it simply by using a 2" piece of wire and two male spade connectors.

Let us know.

Everything works, just the little lights that brighten the cluster.and the second to the last click before turning the head lights on the cc lights that tell you how hot or cold the air is goes off after the lights pop up.ill check the dimmer and see what will happen when i bypass it.Sometimes the simplest things are the hardest for me.Also i took my pops T.S.R.M and looking in the BE-32 section and it shows the combination meter and gauge's.on that page down on the bottom left side their is a circuit A4-Illumination,which is on the conector "A".i checked that part on the circuit and could'nt find anything like bad or broke connection.I also have checked the little lights in the back of the cluster and i don't know why some of them have rubber green covers over the lights.i wanted to check them but was concerned that i might rip them or would'nt be able to slip back on.

Yeah, if the CC is going dark when the light switch is at the last or second to last position it's most likely the dimmer... that or the tail light fuse or wiring.

They just want you to hook up a constant 12V source to it. Take the rheostat out of the dash and test it up by the battery with wires.

And yeah, I miss understood earlier. I thought you meant the CC lights were working properly with the headlight switch in all positions.

I did what the T.S.R.M said when inspecting the Rheostat, which was to hook up the battery to it as well as a ohm meter.when i did it was still good.I also did the same thing with the main relay under the hood and when i hooked the battery to the proper terminals it maid a clicking noise.I thought that was kool lol and it was good also.know i just gotta figure out why the lights and fog lights don't turn on.I remember when i was trying to wire the system to where i could turn on my fog lights without the head lights to turn on.Their is a red and yellow wire that is connected to the fog switch.I cut that and followed the directions.the part of the wire that is on the dash side i freaking made that wire tuch the side that was still connected to the fog switch,at the same time it was also connected to the rear defoger.Dumb Ass i am.I would love to be able to step inside a ring with myself and BEAT THE SH%$ OUT OF ME.
