Cup holder

has any tried making a cup holder in the supra. i was thinking about making that little holder with the spring loaded door right behind the shifter into one. i was thinking about cutting the bottom out of it and fibergalssing a cup holder for a 20oz bottle that would slant back so the bottle would not interfere with shifting.

I think 89+ supras had cup holders in the center or maybe it was the JDM ones.. I forgot.

Just so you know, thats not where it is. It's under the arm rest compartment.

I would have put the 89+ console lid in mine, but they aren't available in blue new anymore, so I bought a pre-89 instead.

I just got a messed up lid from a junkyard and got it recovered in blue, now my 88 has 89+ Cupholders

Im looking into designing one and making it out of gray foam. I use the stuff at my job, I'm a packaging designer, so I'm going to see what I can do with the space available in the area where that little springy door is.

if you can make it out of foam we can send that to get fiberglassed, and wham, new cup holder.

heh...depends....

ive sold three different cupholders on ebay for prices of $65, $73 and $82 dollars.

im sure you can find them for cheaper lol....but one on ebay i dont see going for less then $50 if its in good shape.

I personally don't like those. They get in my way more than a can in the small tray behind the shifter... I do plan on eventually making a true cup holder for that spot out of either FG or acrylic.

Yeah, they're ok imho, but they do get in the way sometimes. It places your drink right under your elbow, but on the plus side, you have a place to put it.

Correct me if i'm wrong, but arn't pre90 compartments deeper too because of no airbag cpu? Do 89s with cup holders have deep compartments?

mine is ALOT deeper than that, i'll see if i can get a pic

Ya my 86.5 has a WAY deeper console, I keep a cd walkman in there until I get my system installed.
