I have a 90 turbo. It used to be an auto but now is a 5 speed. Just bought it. Would anyone know what I should look for to get my cruise working?? Light comes on but nothing else works on it.

On the 3 wire round plug described in the write up you need to run the white and blue wires through the firewall and connect to the clutch pedal switch.

The above write up simply wires them together to bypass the neutral start switch system.

The cruise needs to know that the car is NOT in neutral in order for it to function. Reason they need wired to the switch on the clutch pedal ^^

ummm errr you sure on that?
Clutch switch is to disconnect while engaged so the engine doesn't free rev trying to match road speed with the clutch pressed in.

If the Cruise recieves a neutral signal it will not engage. When this swap is done many simply bypass the neutral start switch. This tells the cruise that the car is in neutral, and always in neutral.

By running said wires to the clutch pedal switch you are only making that connection when the clutch is depressed. It would and does in fact cancel the cruise if you push the clutch in. It also as I said "fools" the computer into beleiving that the auto tranny is in gear.

In esence the neutral start switch normally found on the automatic is being replaced by the switch on the clutch pedal. I know this works as I have done the mod myself. Done any other way, and you dont have cruise, or, your car starts in gear.

Thank you guys. If my car was always a 5 speed I would have just looked in the manual. But as its a swap and somebody else did it I wasnt sure what to look for in order to get it to work. I know that there the clutch switch isnt hooked up either cuz it will start with clutch pedal up. But they did swap in a 5 speed colum cuz it has the key release button. Thanks so much for all the replies so quickly. I have been on many forums and only 1 other besides this one have I got help this fast.

This was just a misunderstanding on my part from Marks original post!

Makes perfect sense that Toyota wired in a shifter cut for the Cruise and I will be doing mine this way as well! <old dog~new trick> ;)

The TSRM will in no way help you with that.

Below is a link to a good write up.

If you have anymore questions feel free to ask. I did the swap last year and did the wiring correctly to have cruise control.

Sorry it took me so long to get back to this. Had some family issues but now I am back trying to get the supra working correctly again. Where would I find the plugs referenced in the writeup??
