Taking off the crank pulley, do you have the motor in the car still? If so, put a breaker bar on the bolt, rest the handle on the ground, and crank the motor with the starter a few times. It'll break the bolt loose.

As for a special pulley removal tool:

:)

I also cut a small metal plate, put two holes in the sides, with long bolts screwing into the pulley. I put a socket on the crank bolt, had the plate resting on it, and as I tightened the bolts in the plate, it would pull the pulley off.

My motor was in the car and I just got under it while it was on the hoist and used a big bastard of a screwdriver and pried it off nice and gentle. Came off pretty easy.
