hey guys, i just put a new HG rebuilt my turbo, all new oil and antifreeze about a month ago, and this sunday that past, i got water going into cylinder 6 like a BHG, but i just took the motor apart, and the HG still looks new, im going to bring it to a machine shop to get it checked but what do you guys think it can be? car ran great, pulled hard, and i also had ARP bolts in it, brand new, i also had the head TQ to 75lbs, the car didnt over heat, and the car was not smoking but sounded like a WRX, i pulled a plug out and found it wet, so i turned the car back on and then it started to smoke so i got the car towed back home so i wont mess up a rod, also it happened like 5 min away from my friends house so the car was not driven long to do damage.

Was the head pressure checked when you did the hg last time?
What kind of head gasket was used?
What kind of machine work was done?
Sure it coolant wasnt getting into the intake some how other than the hg?

Pressure test, compression test, block test first next time.

head is already off, the head was clean and good so i didnt do a resurface, i bought a HG off a member here that claimed it to be OEM, the HG look like it can still be usable, thats how good it still look, i been driving the car and did 1k+ miles on it, been using it for a month, did 2 long trips with it, and never had an issue till sunday. also only cylinder 6 was clean, 5 still had the carbon on it and same with the others,

Yes egr could have effected it. The ecu thinks there is x amount of unburned fuel coming in from egr and adds that to the afr.

Always resurface and pressure check a head when doing a bhg. Its standard practice and it REALLY shouldnt cost more than 60.

Do you have the charcoal canister?

What kind of hg was it? stock style? Did it have the copper coolant rings?

the car never had a BHG, at first i wanted to change it so i wouldnt get into the BHG, but this gasket is still in that new condition look, also i dont have a canister, i never used it cause teh BVSV thing thats on the thermostat housing was broken when i got it, and never gave me a issue, i dont mind putting the EGR if that problem will continue, also it does has the copper coolant rings, and they are kinda puffy in the center if that is normal, not sure?

well i took another look, a very small hole from one of the water ports that gets blocked off on the HG went out and went to the compression ring of the head gasket and made it leak, so im going to bring the head tomorrow to get it milled and hot tanked, and slap on another toyota OEM gasket, thanks for the help

^ Pressure test it. Better to be safe than sorry, don't want to have to rip it apart again. Also realize that every time you machine the head down and put on a stock gasket you're increasing your compression ratio a bit. Don't push it too far or you'll end up having to rip it apart again because the gasket can't take the extra compression + extra boost if you're gonna turn it up.

yea its already at the shop, but came to find out it was the actual head gasket, one of the water ports that gets blocked off leaked, and you can see a small burned mark on it and a compression ring black on one part but still looked fine, i might be able to get the head back tomorrow since i brought it early to them today, if not then monday
