correct way to install coolant and turbo oil line gaskets?

For the gaskets with a "sealant" ring already on them, which surface should that side of the gasket be placed against?

My thinking is that surface with the sealant material should be placed onto the surface of whatever you are bolting to. example: the turbo oil return line to block. The oem gasket with a sealant ring should be placed with that ring facing the block surface.

agree? or should the gasket be the other way, so the sealant ring faces the hard pipe surface?

I havent read anything that says which side the sealant material should be turned towards but I installed mine facing the turbo housing. But I also cover the gasket on both sides with a fine layer of silicone gasket maker just in case.
