coolent temp gauge problems

my temp gauge goes all the way down to cold when i press the gas then on idle it goes back up to the middle whats causing this problem?

nah sometimes it even wont come back on at all too

Check the connection of the wire to the sending unit first. Make sure it's clean, and that the wire isn't under stress. It could be as simple as the wire disconnecting when the engine pulls to the side.

Also if your engine is pulling to the side like that... You may want to check your motor mounts, too.
