coolant leak

I have a coolant leak out of the back of the engine block, to remedy this i bypassed the banjo fitting on the back of the head and ran hose from the bottom heater pipe directly to the heater core. It still leaks though. Does the banjo bolt go into a water jacket in the head?

The engine is in a 4runner so there is not any clearance at all back there so to fix anything back there the motor has to come out

ya that bolt goes to the cooling system in the head kinda need that hooked up.

Never mind I figured it out, I does indeed connect in to the head. So out she comes I guess.

Would there be a problem with just plugging the hole in the back of the head and just running a soft line from the side of the block to the heater core(in a 4runner)? Does having that little bit of coolant run back there cool the rear of the head a little more? I'm not really familiar with how the water flows through the head.
