I developed a coolant leak on my '87 MKIII Turbo and found where it is coming from but don't know what it is that it is leaking from. There is this "nub" that sticks out, about 4 inches or so, laterally from the rear right side (passenger) where the engine connects with the transmission. It looks like it has a cap on it or a valve maybe? I caught it before the engine got too warm, but the radiator will not hold the coolant. I poor in coolant and it pours out almost as fast as I fill the radiator in a consistency of taking a guy taking a piss. Does anyone have any idea what is going on with my car (besides not holding coolant) and what this part is where it is leaking from?

your help is appreciated greatly.

thanks

Its just a cap that you can get at any parts store. I can't remember the size though, either 5/8 or 1/2. I forget.

That's the hard line going from the pump housing around the block...that is a nipple capping off the return from the heater...it's on that side on JDM cars and not used on USDM Supras since the return is on the drivers side. It's good you caught it...as you saw, you lose a lot of coolant fast!
