Column Switch Work With Specific Steering Wheels?

I am finally getting my car fixed and I have a few electrical problems that I cant seem to figure out.

I have an 89 steering wheel in my 1987 Supra. I have no idea what year column switch the previous owner installed.

These are my problems..

- headlights are delayed when opened and closed
- brights dont work. Switch wont go forward, but goes back fine.

I have no clue if the horn or cruise control work because I never used it and the car is dead now.

What do I need to fix these problems? If I go with an aftermarket steering wheel, should I use an 87 combo switch?

I have all those problems, and I have the right wheel/column unit/etc.
But my gauge lights didn't light up either, and when the headlights were on the CC lights went out.
There was a thread made about this a couple weeks ago, I forgot what was said in it though. I'll see if I can dig it up.

Edge: You're describing a blown dimmer. Nothing in common with Kyle's issue.

Kyle, have you tried tearing apart the column and cleaning all the switches? It sounds like the contacts might just be dirty as hell.

EDIT., whoops, mixed the names up.
