code 43. starter signal.

i get a code 43 and it says its the starter signal code. now i feel dumb for asking this but is that why when i turn my key to start the car i get nothing? i had to run a wire from my starter to a switch to the battery to get it to start. now i just push a button and it starts. now what would i have to replace to get my car to crank with the key? the TSRM says i need to replace ignition switch circuit or the ignition switch. where is that? yes i am new to this lol. but i learn pretty fast so just be patient with me. and sorry for the dumb posts. also i can start my car without clutch and its hard to start in the mornings or after it sits for a while.... any help would be greatly helpful.

They are a few things you need to check before you think it is your ignition switch. Do you hear the starter relay clicking. It is located in the passenger side kick panel. Take the kick panel off and get someone to feel if the relay is energizing. They are two things that energize the starter relay. One is clutch switch, which is your positive and the other is the ant theft which makes your ground to the relay. I bypassed my anti theft. You can also try to lock your door with the key and then unlock. This is supposed to reset the anti theft if that is your problem you can bypass it.

hmmm thanks. i dont think its my alarm tho. because my sec. light isnt on and i havent had problems with it before. but i will once again try to reset it if it is the alarm. it used to sometimes turn over with the key and sometimes it didnt. then it just quit. so i ran a wire from starter to battery to a switch.

ok i think relay is bad. because i cant hear it or anything. nor can i feel current going through it.

sounds like a grounding problem to me. i just finished swapping out an entire wire harness also if u have it run around the starter relay. i used to have it that way. make sure u are connected to the right wire off the clutch start switch. that would be the black one.

You need to check the relay with a 12 volt power supply or pop your hood and stick one wire to positive and one wire to negative. Test the relay before you make your decision. I have one in front of me right now. Pull the relay out of the socket, with the relay upside down and the writing facing you it is the two prong on the left. They energize the coil in the relay.
